#Twitter Inks Largest Partnership to Date With CBS via @mashables

Twitter added its largest Amplify partnership to date on Monday, bringing CBS into the fold as part of its program to bring additional video content to Twitter streams in real-time.

The partnership with CBS includes 20 of the company's brands and 42 different shows, making it the largest collection of packages included in one Amplify deal. Twitter and CBS made the announcement on Monday at Advertising Week in New York City.

Twitter's Amplify program, which launched in May, is designed to help broadcasters share additional video content with viewers in hopes of capturing their attention both via TV and then on their "second screen" (either phone or tablet). Sports broadcasts, for example, have used Twitter to immediately show video replays of important plays or moments from a game. The video clips play short advertisements before the featured content, and advertisers can also pay to promote the tweet to increase its visibility Read more...

Jeff Bezos (@amazon) Will Get Even Richer Off Twitter IPO via @mashables

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos' venture capital firm was an early investor in Twitter and will presumably make a big profit from the company's upcoming IPO.

Bezos Expeditions, his personal investment vehicle, was among a handful of firms that made a second round investment in Twitter in 2008. The amount his firm invested is unclear.

Twitter filed a confidential IPO on Thursday, an option under the JOBS Act to avoid public scrutiny for companies making less than $1 billion in revenues. According to estimates, Twitter's valuation falls in the $10.5 billion to $14 billion range.

LOL: 7 Reasons to Miss Your Old Nokia Brick Phone via @mashables

I really do miss my phone like this....

When the Nokia 3310 was released in 2000, it was a simpler time. There were no app stores. The Internet was much younger. There was nary a twerk or a tweet to speak of

The phone's multiple incarnations sold more than 126 million units, from its release to the series' retirement in 2005. Slender, thick, compact — everyone had one

While using a Nokia 3310 today could be comparable to going off the grid, there are more than a few reasons you should feel nostalgia for your old brick phone.

Leaked Images Show Next-Generation Kindle Fire HD via @MASHABLES

A new set of leaked images appear to reveal the design for Amazon's next-generation Kindle Fire HD tablet.

First published by BGR, the photos show a radically modified exterior for the high-end tablet, which is accented by angular edges; this is a distinct departure from the smooth, rounded edges of its predecessor (see photo, above).

In some ways, the new design (which is partially obscured, presumably to protect the source of the leak) is reminiscent of the old HTC Touch Diamond smartphone, a minor hit with design-centric mobile users a few years ago. Read more...

O/T: 9 Books Based on Your Favorite Netflix Show via @Mashables

We entered a very literary weekend, with Friday marked as Read a Book Day and Sunday as International Literacy Day

Even with those extra reminders to tackle your to-read list, it might have seemed easier to spend the weekend watching Netflix than reading a book. It's not too late to shut off the laptop and crack open a book.

Resist the urge and pick up one of these titles that should at least have a similar feel to whatever show you would have been marathoning
