Since then, I changed to be a full service book coach to help authors write the best book they can and make it profitable. Branding is part of the pre-marketing you must do to win at this game. I ask you did you Brand your non-fiction book inside and out?

Here are three reasons why your books won't sell like they could or selling like they should

3 Reasons Why Your Book Ain't Selling
by Pam Perry
I've been getting asked the same questions over and over again lately, and so I thought I'd answer all of those questions with this article. The basic gist of what people are asking me is this: "why aren't my books selling and how can I get out there so I can speak and sell my books?" None of these individuals are my PR coaching clients, they're just folks who have published and now wonder why they are not selling this book like a PR Rock Star.

So here are the top 3 reasons why you're not selling your book:

1) You never got around to establishing yourself as an author.
The promotion of the book starts BEFORE the book is out!  I say that all the time. But, the overwhelming majority of people who publish never really take the time to build a platform. You need to build up  an audience of people who would want to buy their book. Having 1,000+ "friends" on Facebook is not a readership.  Most people create a book and think everyone would want to buy it and have them come speak about it once it rolls off the presses. And what happens when they publish the book and announce it to the world, the same result is the same --  they sell about 200 copies to their friends and family.

2) You didn't market your Book.
You've just finished your first book and published it. Whew! Now it's time to sit back, relax and watch the sales roll in. Right? Wrong! Nothing could be further from the truth. Getting your book published is about 10% of the work. The 90% of the work  involves around getting the word out and generating sales. This is where most people who get around to publishing their book typically fail. They see that they still have some more work to do, and quit. It just seems way too hard.

3) You didn't invest in any marketing support, buy a "how to" kit or get a coach
I'm not here to try to sell you anything, so let's get that out of the way.  But what I will tell you is that those who succeed are those who are prepared. And preparation involves GETTING INFORMATION AND TALKING WITH THE RIGHT PEOPLE.  A lot of first time authors make mistakes - costly mistakes. How do I know this? Because I see it. They come to me - crying and upset.  They didn't have any help when they were publishing and had to figure this all out on their own. They spent a lot of money trying to figure it all out and got very confused - and frustrated.

Here's what you need to understand. Without any advice or guidance, you're dooming yourself to learning by trial-and-error. That can be both costly and very time consuming. Don't make that mistake.

Here's the bottom line. I truly believe you can become a successful author.  You need to set a goal for yourself, get some information from a professional and stick with it. Do what they instruct you to do. Trust me, you'll be incredibly happy if you follow my advice.

10 Novel Website Promotion Methods to Generate Targeted Traffic

There are a few very well-known website promotion methods to generate targeted traffic to a website. The success of any online business depends on maximizing the various website promotion methods known to the webmaster. Here are some novel website promotion methods that are being implemented by some successful online businesses and can be adopted by anyone. Skillfully implementing these strategies means that you will be creating awareness of your business along with the website URL to thousands of people everyday. The obvious result will be a continuous stream of targeted visitors.

1. Make some T shirts with your website address and other useful information attractively printed on them. Get your family members and friends to wear them when they attend sports festivals, carnivals and other community functions.

2. Get some bumper stickers made displaying your website address and stick it on the bumper of your car. Get your family members and close friends also to do the same. You can provide some incentives to do this promotion if necessary.

3. Make some business cards with your website address and other business details. Make it a point to exchange business cards with others at business seminars, workshops and conferences at every opportunity you get. This is one of the best website promotion methods for your business.

4. Have a magnetic sign made with your website address and other important business information. Place it on the door of your car or on the roof of your car. Thousands of people will see this promotion everyday.

5. Get some ball point pens printed with your web site address and other business information and distribute them at workshops and seminars. You can also leave a few at public places like banks and post offices.

6. Have some mugs made with the web site address and other business details displayed attractively. Give them as gifts to friends and business acquaintances.

7. Get some winter jackets and print your web-site address on them. These can be awarded as prizes at various competitions.

8. Print some brochures made with the website address and details of all your business activities and leave them at libraries, community centers and other public places where people congregate.

9. Print some Flyers with your website address and other business information and distribute them in the neighborhood and place them on notice boards.

10. Get some attractive bookmarks made with the web address and other business information and leave them at colleges, libraries and community centers.

These website promotion methods will keep your business and the URL in the lime light all the time. This will result in ongoing conversations, discussions and word of mouth promotion for your business.

RT @mashable: 5 Ways to Get Involved With Twestival

On Thursday, March 25, the second annual Twestival Global charity event will kick off in over 175 cities across the world. Thousands of people will get together at events around the globe to help raise money for Concern Worldwide, and help the estimated 72 million children around the globe that are not enrolled in school gain access to education.

Last year, Twestival helped raise over $250,000 for Charity: Water, and including last fall's Twestival Local, the organization raised three quarters of a million dollars for charities in 2009. Over $185,000 have already been raised this year in advance of tomorrow's event (and you can track that number on the Twestival Results page).

Here are five ways you can get involved.

Fw: Tighten Those Blogs Up FROM bloggingtips.com

http://www.bloggingtips.com/2010/03/21/tighten-those-blogs-up/ Written by Rob Starr from Rob Starr

When you look through a sample of all the content that’s being written on the Internet there are a few things that you’ll notice and one of the first is there’s a lot of bad writing out there. It even makes sense because you don’t need any real training to get involved with a blog or website—just a computer and an internet connection.

Still, that’s not an excuse. It’s important to remember there are enough resources out there both on and offline so that bad writing should be a thing of the past. The Internet has many websites where you can go to get the right information about how to write in English and do it well.

If you're not careful on your blog, you can damage relationships with friends and family. Many bloggers have posted content that they later regretted. Even if you never criticize others, you might possibly reveal information about others that your friends and family will find disturbing.
