Now Offering Blogging Classes at the Charles H. Wright Museum

Today, nearly everyone has a blog... why not have your own? There are movies about blogs such as "Julie & Julia", athletes reaching out on them and superstars telling everyone everything on them. President Obama began a presidency with a blog! Blogging is more popular then ever! Get in on the excitement and start your own.

If you ever wanted to start your own blog but didn't know where to start, this is the time. No programming skills are needed to get started, just a basic understanding of the web and an email address will be all you need to set up and maintain your own blog website.

What you will get out of the first class on Saturday, September 19th at 10:00am:

  • You will create and leave with your own live WordPress website and blog
  • Know how to create new posts adding copy, photos, video, music and more
  • Change and customize the look of your blog
  • Handling visitor comments and proper etiquette between you and your readers

This second class is for anyone who has either a basic understanding of a WordPress website or taken the first Blogging for Beginners class, and is looking to begin getting their blog out to the masses and make it successful. Whether you want a blog for personal enjoyment, for your company or your own business, blogging can be easy, fun, and even profitable. With these advanced skills, your blog can stand apart from the rest.

What you will get out of the second class on Saturday, September 19th at 12:30pm:

  • Advanced training on widgets and plugins - what works and how to implement them
  • Keep track of visitor traffic
  • Customizing your template with widgets and plug-ins
  • Learn how to promote your blog through social networks for maximum exposure

All classes will be taught in the museum's new conference room, furnished with new laptops and the latest in comfortable electronic classroom features. Each class is $20 for members and $25 for non-members. A class is limited to 20 people.

Classes are taught by Keith Hearn, Media Designer at the Charles H. Wright Museum and owner of Finepoint Design, a local web & graphic design company. Keith had done work for Ford Motor Company, MotorCity Casino - Hotel, Spyder Turner, Quicken Loans and Rock Financial. Call 313-494-5806 for more information
