Amazon.com and Penguin Group (USA) Now Accepting Submissions for Second Annual Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award Competition Through Feb. 8
SEATTLE & NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN), Penguin Group (USA) (NYSE:PSO) and CreateSpace are accepting submissions for the second annual Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award competition at www.amazon.com/abna from today through midnight EST on Feb. 8, 2009. The competition aims to find the next popular novel, with the winner to receive a publishing contract with Penguin Group (USA), which includes a $25,000 advance. Entries will be accepted until Feb. 8, or until 10,000 entries have been received, whichever comes first. Once the submission window has closed, the entries will be evaluated and the selection process will begin. Key dates for the competition are as follows:

March 16 500 quarterfinalists announced, selected by Amazon expert reviewers
 
April 15 100 semifinalists announced, selected based on Publishers Weekly reviews
 
May 15 Three finalists selected by Penguin Group (USA) editors announced; Amazon.com customers begin to cast their votes for the Grand Prize Winner
