Coupons for Publicity

I was watching Tabitha's Salon Takeover and the salon owner who used a lot of coupons to bring in business appalled her. She used the coupons in her marketing, which went out each week. One letter said, I am confused! Why didn't you use your coupon? I know where the woman got the idea; it used to be very common in Internet marketing. The salon workers and Tabitha agreed it sounded abusive and staker-ish.
The woman was desperate and trying to find a way to make money. Coupons are used as a loss leader to get you in so you buy OTHER things, not to just get you in. Workers would basically work for free because of the deep discounted and were not clued in that they were supposed to up sell the clients who came in. If they use a coupon, then they would need to be sold products and other services. Only the coupons were used and so it was a big flop all over.

The salon take over show is good TV. Not only does it give you real business insights but also makes you realize just how good your business can be. It's painful to take a look at what is happening and hilarious at the same. Not only do the salons get a makeover but also they get a TON of new business. After your business appears on TV and seems to get better, this is a great time to bring in new customers. The coupons are only for low price leaders. Coupons can make your services seem cheap, but if you can get your business on a game show, then you have some firepower. You have a reason to be interviewed by local media. You have a reason to be in the your industry trade magazines and newsletter to talk about your experience. You can use that television appearance in all your advertising: AS SEEN ON TV. It takes a tough skin to pull it off and make a good episode. It also works out great for participants in the long run. Next time you see a show wanting to feature a business, think about submitting yours. And throw out the coupon campaign if you are not ready to take it all the way to the end.

Are you ready to get the publicity you deserve? Start with a free media list at http://www.prfairyhq.com/blog/medialist

5 Mistakes Authors Make When Doing an Online Book Launch

One of the best ways to sell lots of books from the comfort of your home is to do an online book launch campaign. When done right you can sell hundreds, even thousands of books in a very short period of time.
However, one launch is not the end all be all to a successful book. It is the start of other great opportunities. Your job is to continue to promote your book and other products and services you have available.
However, before you can do that you need to always provide incredibly high value to your market.
To get the most out of any book launch you must take specific actions and avoid common mistakes. Take a look at one of the common mistakes people make when doing an online book launch campaign.
  • Inconsistent or no follow up.If you have your systems set up you would be able to collect the contact information from many of your buyers. Once you do you can follow up. Many authors don't. Automation will lessen or alleviate this challenge.
  • Too much follow up.Over saturating the market. Be careful not to be overzealous. Keep in mind that readers are inundated with emails coming from a number of people. Do what you can to keep your value high and plan out your campaigns.
  • Getting sidetracked with unimportant tasks. Prioritize what you need to do, write a daily to do list, and learn to say no.
  • Not laying a solid foundation. This will cause you to build a campaign that can quickly fall apart. It is better to take time to put your systems in place in order to have a smooth running campaign rather than jumping from thing to thing not achieving the results you desire.
  • Resting on your laurels. Simply put, keep at it. Think of other ways you can serve your readers. Look at the big picture.
Take time to put a good promotions plan together to reap the greatest benefits. You will be glad you did.

FREE Reports Are a Great Marketing Tool for Authors

Looking for a great way generate interest in you and your books while developing a revenue stream. Try your hand at low-cost reports.

We've all heard stories of people making boatloads of money online by selling information products. Yet for most people making their first $100 would make them very happy. You see, once you make your first $100 the next $100 is much easier.

And, once someone has expressed an interest in one of your information products they are more likely to buy your books. That is if the reports contain high quality information.

A report can be one of many information products you, as an author, offer to your market. Information products include books, CDs, MP3s, white papers, reports, teleseminars, webinars, Podcasts, etc. In the Internet context, the term refers to electronically deliverable, knowledge-based products.

Anything that contains knowledge and you can deliver it electronically is considered an information product.

One of the easiest (and quickest to create) information products around is a report. And yet, many people have no idea where to start, how to market and how to turn their information into profits. Let's start at the beginning.

If you can write a book, write articles and do blog posts, you can write a report.

There are ample benefits to creating low-priced reports. Nowadays, many consumers would rather pay a few dollars for a fast solution to their problem than have to search around for the information (even if it's free).

It doesn't matter what topic, market or industry, reports are a great way to provide solutions to readers and generate great revenue with very little work.

Reports are also a great way to build your opt-in subscriber list. Most people have heard, "The gold is in the list." This is so true. With a good opt-in list of subscribers you can literally make money at the press of a button.

Reports are so easy to create that you can often do so with little or no money out-of-pocket. Sure, there is time involved, but when you consider that you can generate hundreds (and even thousands) of dollars in revenue from a 10 - 20 page plus report, the time invested is worth it.

Because your reports will be delivered electronically, there are no storage costs. With physical products you have to keep inventory on hand, find a place to store them and often watch them collect dust. This won't happen with online reports.

After the initial costs of developing your report, there are literally no additional costs to continue selling them.

With the right systems in place you can generate excellent revenues fast, easy and with what seems like the press of a button. And, with the opt in list you build you have built-in buyers for your other books.

SEO Writing - 5 Amazing Tips For New Writers

More and more people from different countries are now considering the idea of making money through SEO writing. These people know that they can easily make money by offering SEO article writing services to affiliate marketers, ebusiness owners, bloggers, and to anyone who's needing great content for their ezines, directories, ebooks, blogs, and websites.
Below are some of the most effective, compelling SEO article writing tips that you need to keep in mind if you're just starting out in this endeavor:
  1. First, learn the ropes of writing properly optimized articles from the experts. You'll surely have an advantage over your competitors or those people who are selling the same writing services in the online arena if you know what SEO experts know. This is the reason why I suggest that you take advantage of seminars and training programs about these topics. You will not only get in-depth information but you'll also learn very effective insider tips and trade secrets that can help you along the way.
  2. Improve your writing skills. Exceptional writing skill is one of the things that you need to have. Before you sink your teeth into this endeavor, ensure that you have great command of the English language and that you don't have any problem putting the information that you want to share into writing. What I suggest is that you write a couple of articles and show them to expert article writers. It's best if you look at your articles through their eyes so you'll know your areas of opportunities.
  3. Always think of your readers. Don't just think about using keywords and the search engines when writing your articles. Remember, aside from making your articles searchable in the online arena, your other goal (and the more important one) is to impress your readers. So, keep these people in mind and their needs every step of the way. Choose your topics based on their needs and demands. Write your articles while taking their levels of comprehension and preferences in mind. This is the best things that you can do to ensure that your articles will come out very targeted and very impacting. As you know, this is the key to generate positive feedback from your audience.
  4. Optimize your articles. Make your articles search engine-friendly by using keywords and various white hat SEO article writing techniques. Read ebooks and other SEO-related resources to know the things that you can do and make sure that they're acceptable to giant search engines. Sprinkle popular keywords all throughout your article and make use of related terms. It's best if you place your primary keywords on your title and on each of your paragraphs (preferably within the first 90 characters). It will also help if you include the keywords on the last sentence of your SEO article.
  5. Proofread. Don't forget to review and proofread your articles. First, ensure that they're free from grammar and spelling errors. Then, make sure that your content flows smoothly. Lastly, ensure that your keywords fit perfectly or that they don't sound awkward.

Article Writing for Profits - Share Your Expertise and Make More Money

Every individual who's running an online business have one goal in mind: to make money. In order to reach that goal, you need to drive traffic to your website, earn the trust of your prospects, and later on, get them to buy from you. This is all possible if you write articles and share your in-depth knowledge in your field in the online arena.
Here are some of the most explosive article writing tips that can help you increase your profits:
  1. First thing that you need to do is to attract interested parties through your articles. This will happen if you talk about the things that your prospects find extremely interesting or relevant to their lives. Go to forums that are related to the product that you sell and read the conversation between your target audience. List down the problems that they're having, the common questions that they're asking, and the things that they're dying to know about. Choose those that are related to your chosen niche and write about them. Obviously, this will allow you to offer these people with the kind of information that they need. Don't forget to use catchy titles for your articles. Give your target audience an idea as to what's in store for them. People are more likely to pay attention if they know ahead of time what they're getting.
  2. Second step is to earn the trust and respect of your readers. Keep in mind that these people will not pay your site a visit unless you can convince them that you can offer them the kind of information and service that they need. So, make your articles speak volumes about your expertise and relevant experience. Provide your readers with in-depth information that will leave them in awe. It will also help if you make these people feel that you do understand where they are coming from and if you give them an assurance that you have what it takes to help them to get to where they would like to be.
  3. Third and the most important step is to get people to visit your website through your resource box. You cannot convert these people to buying customers unless they pay your site a visit. This is the reason why it's important that you can effectively convince them to click the link on your author box. You can get more people to respond to your call to action if you make your sales pitches benefit-driven. Tell these people the amazing information that they'll find on your website. Give them the link using anchor texts. Then, offer them with freebies like reports, newsletters, or ebooks.
  4. Convert prospects to buying customers. Once you get your readers to pay your site a visit, the next step is to get them to sign up to your list. After that, you can send them with follow-up emails and ads. Each time you contact these people, make sure that you offer them with enticing deals. It will also help if you create a sense of urgency so they'll take advantage of what you offer ASAP.

Article Marketing Secrets - 4 Techniques to Dramatically Increase Your Site's Traffic

By Sean R Mize

There are so many ways to drive traffic to your website. There's PPC advertising, blogging, forum posting, and other traffic-generating methods. But if you want something that's very straightforward and proven to be very effective, I would recommend article marketing. The process includes writing and distributing articles to different websites particularly to article directories. When done right, article marketing can help you increase your website's traffic by up to a hundredfold.
Here are some techniques that you can use to boost the number of your page views:
  1. Do some experiments and make use of different resource box. Don't limit yourself in using one resource box for each of your article. Instead, do experiments and figure out which one is more effective. Write your resource box while taking into consideration the content of your article. It's best if you can relate your call to action to your main topic. For example, if you're writing about article marketing, you can say "Do you want to know the article marketing techniques that can help you succeed in this field? Then, visit this site." Make sure that you hyperlink the keywords that you're targeting. This is proven to have positive effect on conversion rate.
  2. Ask for feedback. Most of the time, we fail to identify our own grammar and other mistakes and sometimes, we think that our articles are perfect even if that's not the case. This is the reason why I recommend that you look at your articles through the eyes of other people. Ask a friend or a neutral third party to read your articles before you distribute them in the online arena. Know what they think about your copies. Did they find your articles very informative? Did they find them interesting? What are the things that you can do improve the overall quality of your articles?
  3. Help your readers. Some article marketers are not willing to share what they know to their readers. This is the reason why they just rewrite the articles they see online and why they write the same topics over and over again. If you want to impress your readers, this is definitely not the best route to take. Based on surveys, online users are more likely to give you positive response if you tell them something that they don't know yet or if you teach them to do things on their own. If you offer useful information all the time, you can be assured that your readers will have confidence in you and they'll trust you in no time.
  4. Make use of bullet list or short paragraphs. One thing that you need to learn about online users (your target audience) is that their attention span is very limited. Reading lengthy paragraphs can be too much work for these people. This is the reason why I recommend that you breakdown your 500-word articles into several paragraphs or bullet list. Giving your readers bite-sized chunk of texts will help in easily understanding the message that you're trying to get across. When this happens, these people will be enticed to read your articles until they reach your resource box.

Basically, write short 300-500 word articles related to the topic of your book. Then, in your resource box point readers to your book's website. This is a long term strategy that can help build backlinks to your site, introduce new people to your topic of expertise and even attract potential joint venture partners and affiliate marketers for your products and services. RT @mashable HOW TO: Target Social Media Influencers to Boost Traffic and Sales

Ben Straley About 1 month ago Ben Strale

http://mashable.com/2010/04/15/social-media-influencers/

Ben Straley is the CEO of Meteor Solutions, provider of the leading word-of-mouth analytics and optimization platform that enables marketers to measure, manage, and monetize earned media.
Your brand has 10,000 Twitter () followers and 2,000 fans on Facebook (). Does that mean your social media marketing efforts are paying off? Maybe not. As the old adage goes, it’s quality, not quantity, that counts.

Recent data that Meteor Solutions collected from across more than 20 brand marketer clients shows that the type of friends, fans and followers a brand amasses on social media sites matters more than the number. On average, approximately 1% of a site’s audience generates 20% of all its traffic through sharing of the brand’s content or site links with others. And these “influencers” drive an even higher share of conversion. These very important Internet () users can directly influence 30% or more of overall end actions on brand websites by recommending the brand’s site, products or promotions to friends.

As this data shows, successful social media marketing isn’t simply about amassing thousands of followers, but instead precisely identifying the most influential members of your audience and recognizing them for their value. By directly engaging one influencer with exclusive opportunities, special offers, and unique content, you are indirectly engaging thousands of other people who are part of this influencer’s social sphere.

Sounds pretty enticing, right? But the challenge in crafting a successful marketing program that activates influencers is two-fold. First, you have to use the right data and traffic analysis tools to find out who your most influential followers are. Second, you have to connect with these people in an authentic, “non-salesy” way, and truly build a relationship with them –- because if you overly “sell” to your influencers, you’ll burn a bridge and potentially turn your biggest fans into your worst detractors.

Here are a few concrete tips brands can use to get started marketing with influencers.

ARTICLE: Ask Yourself If List Building is a Priority

OK, you have a good website set up - but, what are you doing with those visitors who have found you? If list building hasn't not been a priority, then you are wasting an incredible opportunity and it will pay you to re-think your overall marketing strategy and plans.

ASK YOURSELF
What happens to my visitors?
Why aren't they buying my products and services that I have well displayed and explained?
Is it that they don't know me?
How do I communicate better with them?

THE ANSWER
You need to 'capture' their names and email addresses so that you can, through an email campaign, communicate good and useful information that will build your credibility and allow them to gain trust or confidence in what you say.

AND, this before you even suggest they buy a product from you!

The establishment of reliability and trust will either save or sink your online relationship with them. This means that you pre-sell, not hard sell - no matter how much you are tempted to constantly place offers before them. If you have shown that you are genuinely interested in helping them, through what you give away freely, then they will be more open to genuine offers to purchase.

Put yourself in their shoes. I mean do you like constantly getting emails that only are offers of products? Do you find yourself more open to those marketers who mostly give you something useful and that is free?

If you have a targeted audience then you will be speaking to people who are wanting what you have to offer - whereas those who find you through random searches rarely produce results. That is, if your site is about gardening, you do not particularly want to target motor sports enthusiasts. Do your research and work within the niche that you have chosen - and focus on those who are searching within that niche for information to solve their problems.

Remember, online success or your Internet Marketing efforts greatly depends on your list building.

As they say, the money is in the list, and that's why most internet marketers treasure their opt-in list as real gold.

Promote Your Book on Twitter in 10 Minutes a Day By Melinda Copp

If you're marketing your books online, then you've probably heard of Twitter. It was all the rage last year in social media, and millions of people have joined this micro-blogging community. Maybe you even started a profile page and sent out a tweet or two. If so, that's great. And if you've been avoiding it for one reason or another, it might be time to try it out.

Why? With millions of people tweeting every day, it's a huge source of potential readers for your book. It's easy to get followers and it's a great way to interact with your reading audience. But one of the main excuses I hear about why people aren't on Twitter-or they aren't using it fully-is that it's so time consuming. Well, it can be. But not if you try the following tips.

Automate Your Tweets
With so many people on Twitter, you need a lot of tweets per day to really maximize your exposure. But you don't want to spend all day tweeting. Automation is the answer. You can use the following tools to tweet on your behalf.

Hoot Suite: This program allows you to schedule tweets ahead of time. So once a month, you can go into your Hoot Suite account and set it up to tweet several times a day for you. You have to enter each tweet and schedule them one at a time, which can be tedious, but it's worth getting several days of tweets out of the way at one time. I use this tool especially when I'm announcing a teleseminar or other event that's scheduled on my calendar.

Social Oomph: This tool also allows you to schedule tweets for later, but the true beauty of Social Oomph is that you can set it to send all your new followers a welcome message. This saves time contacting everyone who follows you, and allows you to start building a relationship with them right away.

Twitter Feed: This tool allows you to link your blog or any other RSS feed to your Twitter account. This means any time you update your blog, a tweet is automatically sent out. You only have to set this up once, and then it works automatically. And it's a great way to get new eyes on your blog posts.

Make Tweeting Easy
You can only automate so much of your Twitter activity. You'll also have to check in periodically through the day to communicate with people and send out the more personal tweets, like what you're working on that day or what you're excited about. The key to getting it down to ten minutes or less is making it super easy to tweet. Here are a few tips.

Link Your Twitter Account to Your Cell Phone: When your cell phone is linked to your Twitter account, you can take advantage of spare minutes in your day, like when you're waiting in line or stuck in traffic, to post updates. When you sign up for a Twitter account, you'll be asked if you want to use your phone with it. And they'll give you the steps for setting everything up.

Use a Desktop Twitter Manager, Like Tweet Deck: Tweet Deck is a free program that you can download to your computer and use to see everything that's happening on Twitter in one place. It has a column for the live feed, a column that shows everyone who's mentioned you, and a column for all the direct messages you receive. This makes the all-important social interaction easy.

Send Quality Tweets
If you want people to respond to you and follow you, then you need to keep them interested. Plus quality tweets will maximize the time you do spend on this social media site. I've heard a few different formulas from different Twitter experts, but basically you want a daily mix of tweets that include:

Giving away good information that will interest people in your target audience, such as links to your blog posts, tips, interesting quotes, links to other people's blog posts, links to articles, etc. This should be the bulk of your Twitter activity-and these are the easiest types of tweets to automate, by the way.

Being nice to people by complimenting them, retweeting their tweets, engaging in conversation, responding to their questions, etc. This is what you do when you check in with your mentions and direct messages.

Being real. Social media is all about being approachable. So once or twice a day, check in with what you're working on, what's bugging you, what delicious restaurant you ate lunch at, something funny you found on the web, or what's going on in your life. Let your followers know the real you, even if you don't think it's interesting.

Asking for a sale. The whole point of your Twitter participation is selling books, right? Well, then, at some point you need to ask folks to buy your book. However, you can't blatantly promote your book all the time (maybe once or twice a day if you have ten-fifteen other tweets going out), and you can't just come right out and ask people to buy. Try tweeting about some tip from your book and link to a sales page, making it informational as well as subtly promotional.

Tweeting Your Way to Book Sales
Twitter is too big to ignore-especially if you're marketing your book online. It's a great, free way to get traffic to your site and find a reading audience. But no one wants to spend all day tweeting. When you use these tips for automating, simplifying, and maximizing your Twitter time, you can reap all the benefits from this using this social media site in ten minutes a day or less!
